Improvement of the product quality level
Design for quality
Your need
In a scenario in which the competitive pressure of low-cost producers is stronger than in the past, the quality of products has once again become one of the main features that customers evaluate in their purchasing choices. Thinking of quality as a response to customer needs and as reliability in the life cycle of products, it is known that much of the quality is determined in the design phase.
Our approach
We have reinterpreted the traditional techniques of the design for quality to make them more fitting and effective in their application. Thanks the principle of “anticipation”, the possible quality gaps are intercepted and solved in advance. Practically, the approach involves the use of specific visual management techniques for the management of design reviews, an in-depth analysis of root causes for non-quality problems, the application of FMEA techniques, the use of a so called “empathic design”(product engineers visit the production genba) are some of the tools that JMAC employs, along with some Lean techniques of project management, such as the Visible Planning.
With plenty of organizations the application of such techniques has succeeded in significantly reducing the defectiveness (-60% on internal non-conformities, – 20% of warranty costs due to product reliability issues). Once the appropriate levels of quality have been reached, it is possible to pursue a zero defects condition throughout the subsequent production-distribution and maintenance/service flows.
